Did you know that nearly 50% of American adults have untagged themselves from a picture on Facebook because they were unhappy with how their smile looked? If this sounds all too familiar, then cosmetic dentistry can help you tweak, correct, and perfect your teeth. However, if it’s a little gap or small chip that you are struggling with, some of those treatments can seem like overkill. That’s where dental bonding comes in! With this effective solution, you can conceal minor dental flaws – from stains to cracks – in a single visit. Sound good? Contact our office today to schedule your appointment.

What Is Direct Bonding?

Direct bonding uses composite resin (the same material used in tooth-colored fillings) to effectively address everything from cracks and discoloration to chips. While it comes with many of the benefits of porcelain veneers, it is distinctly different because there is minimal tooth “prep” and the entire process can be completed in a single visit. In short, thanks to direct bonding, you can achieve your dream smile in half the time and for half the price.

How Does Direct Bonding Work?

At your initial consultation, you’ll spend some time with our cosmetic dentist, Dr. Funk. This will allow you both to speak about your smile goals in depth and ensure that dental bonding is indeed the best option for you. From there, he will solidify the details of your custom treatment plan and get to work! After smoothing out your tooth (or teeth), he will use a shade guide to determine the perfect match. Next, he will apply the resin in layers, shaping it meticulously before hardening it with an ultraviolet curing light. We will finish off the process with a good polish, and you’ll be set!

The Benefits of Direct Bonding

Direct bonding continues to be a leading cosmetic treatment year after year because of its numerous benefits, like:

  • Little to no enamel removal
  • The entire process can be finished in just one visit
  • Cost-effective
  • Results can last 10 years with proper care

How Do I Know If Direct Bonding Is For Me?

If you have cracks in your enamel, stubborn stains, small gaps in your smile, or worn down teeth, then you may be a candidate for direct bonding! The easiest way to find out for certain is by scheduling an appointment with our dentist. Based on his findings during your dental exam, Dr. Funk will either recommend moving forward or completing treatment, like periodontal therapy, beforehand. Either way, he will create a completely customized treatment plan to ensure you get the healthy, beautiful smile you’ve been dreaming of.
